SUMMER WEEKEND GETAWAY

The weekend before the move to a new apartment was something special. We had booked one night stay in Visulahti for almost my whole family. We had three little cottages in our use just next to the nostalgic water park and all the other activities. The first day right after checking in we went straight to the water park and spent the entire day there. Some of the group wanted to stay and have a BBQ as a dinner but we were craving some restaurant pizza and wine (and over-prized wine as it turned out to be xD). 

The next day before heading to home we spent first wandering in Tertinkartano and then driving to Savonlinna. The last time we were in Savonlinna it was around Covid so there were no guided tours in Olavinlinna and you can't explore the whole castle by yourself. This time we attended a guided tour and got to see places we'd never seen before. As you can probably guess, as a history nerd I was so excited to learn more about the history of the castle. After exploring the castle we went to have piña coladas and later in the day before saying goodbye to Savonlinna, we headed to fish and chips by the lake.

JULY LIFE

Self-grown peonies from my garden <3 

Rhubarb pie made from also self-grown rhubarbs. That pie with vanilla ice cream is just heaven!

Date night with my girls <3 First burgers in Morton and then drinks in Elina.

I started a new project and found my love for crocheting. Those squares were supposed to become a bag but I think I'll make a dress instead. / Cafe date with a friend. I'm sooo obsessed with matcha at the moment and constantly craving it! I need to buy the supplies and start making it myself.

A beach day in Honkalampi with a book I've been reading this whole summer xD Why have I become such a slow reader... 

The end of July went by chilling on the beach... / ...and packing for the move. The last weekend in July we were on a weekend holiday before the moving chaos started but that deserves its own post.

WINDS OF CHANGE

 

And just like that it is already August. It feels like summer just started and now you can already smell autumn in the air. There is nothing like Finnish summer, but damn I really wish it would last even a month longer. Also, it feels so strange not to be back to school. Usually, at this time we're starting to plan which student event we should attend to kick start a new semester, haha. I'm still not used to this freedom... or the prices without student discounts, those I miss the most ;)

August has been a month of change. It started by moving into a new downtown apartment and leaving behind the suburbs, which I'm only excited about. The suburbs never felt like my kind of place to live and to be honest living among families just gave me anxiety. But living right in the city centre gives me the freedom to do whatever whenever I want and everything is easily accessible with a bike (I hate walking to places xD). It feels like I got my life back and I get to be independent once again!

I'd hate to jinx it, but looks like my trip to Spain is really happening. A flight to Barcelona is already booked and a friend of mine is waiting for me there (in Tarragona to be precise). I haven't seen her since June so I can't wait to get there in September! I'm sure we'll have the best time there! I haven't been on a girl's abroad trip in a long time so I'm sooo excited!🩷

Ps. The last year in my 20s has begun! Let's see what I come up with my 30th birthday ;)
