END OF SUMMER

 

And just like that, the -ber months have begun, and autumn has officially arrived.  Although this summer wasn't the greatest weather-wise, really special memories were made that I will remember with warmth in the upcoming colder months. I travelled all around Finland and saw new places from my bucket list. I enjoyed time in nature with multiple good books. I saw my friends and did all the fun things you can do only in summer. I appreciated the few warm days summer offered and really let myself take things slowly, enjoying every moment, even the smallest ones.

JULY DAYS

Dear diary, July started with a surprise birthday party for my sister.  

I'm obsessed with this strawberry matcha. 

Pastels have been my colour palette for this summer.  

My new Coach bag! The best second-hand find for a while.

I started reading the Crescent City trilogy and the beginning of the book was sooo sticky, but I'm glad I made it through.

Found this beautiful set on sale and I had to buy it. Glad I did, since I've been wearing it so much!

Dinner at Kerubi. I went for garlic snails as a starter and fish and chips for main. After dinner, we went to take some quick birthday photos of me by the river. They turned out so pretty! 

Celebrating my birthday in a spa with a friend. Cold autumnal day well spent, and it was the 23rd of July... Meanwhile, the rest of Europe is burning; we have autumn in the middle of summer... :D

I hosted my birthday party for my family and then...

... we continued the celebration at Soossi. Drinks, pizza, wine and dessert... I was spoiled <3

JUNE DAYS

Dear diary, June was full of beautiful flowers and the scent of lilacs.

I did some amazing purchases and second-hand finds. Never thought that I would start wearing capris again, but here we are.  

Summer day well spent. First Vietnamese dinner, then Aperol Spritz and gelato as a dessert. 

The best ice cream in Joensuu for sure! Dandelion and cherry flavours were delicious!  

Day trip to Outokumpu to visit my grandparents' grave. 

 Finally saw the Materialists movie. Let's just say I'm team Harry all the way... :D

Cosy day at home with slightly healthier snacks.

MAY DAYS

Dear diary, May started with celebrating May Day at my mum's...   

...and then continuing the celebration at Onkamo the next day. 

I restocked some of my all-time favourite beauty products.

Baked some delicious chocolate chip cookies.  

It's not summer without a new bikini. I'm in love with it <3 

We had a surprise bachelorette party and stayed the night at a hotel. The day started with breakfast at my home and continued to a local park for some activities. Then we headed to our suite, changed into swimsuits and went downstairs to the spa. The evening ended with getting ready, having dinner and going early to bed (for the upcoming bride's request lol. We are no longer party girls xD).

Cosy home days <3

After watching the Netflix documentary The Plastic Detox, I immediately changed my plastic water bottle to a glass one. The best purchase from Rusta! Now I have a mission to replace all my plastic kitchen items with metal or bamboo ones. 

Finally made it to the tandem reading part of the Throne of Glass series. I highly recommend reading the two books simultaneously! 

Wuthering Heights was quite a disappointment. I haven't read the book or watched the earlier adaptations, but since everyone was talking about it, I assumed it was good. I found it boring and really disliked both of the main characters xD

Summer house weekend - Day 1

Arriving at the summer house, having Indian food, playing mölkky, sauna and swimming and enjoying the cloudy but calm summer day.

Waking up in a cabin, reading a book, enjoying sunshine, having barbecue food, bathing in the hot tub, sauna and swimming till late at night.

Summer and the scent of lilacs in the air.💜

Nature is giving its best right now, and anywhere you look, something beautiful is blossoming. I could just wander around the city and sniff all the flowers now blooming. Summer is the only time when I miss having my own garden, but luckily, even living in the city centre, you can find amazing nature around you. Finnish summer is so short, but always just as wonderful, so let's make the most of it. Just also remember to pause and give yourself a moment to breathe while enjoying the view.

APRIL DAYS

Dear diary, April started with a lovely cafe date with a friend.  

Easter celebration in Onkamo <3

Lunch at my friend's house. It is always so inspiring to eat at other people's homemade food and get inspiration for your own cooking. 

So many cool clothes in my closet, but no occasions to wear them...  

Slowly building my dream home piece by piece. 

My latest purchase was those reusable ice cubes from Juva for a prop.  

For many years, I've only owned one pair of sunglasses. I've been drooling over those Miu Miu sunglasses and decided that it was about time to treat myself to them. They are so pretty and chic!

Salmon with pesto and wedged potatoes have been my go-to dinner option lately. So easy to make and healthy!

Is there anything better than reading a good book with a glass of wine on a sunny day?

Matcha o'clock.  

I got that beautiful blue flower painting back from my Mum. Let's see how long I can last with colours in my interior other than beige xD

Takatalvi came and thankfully lasted only one day. What better way to spend the day than sweating in a gym and sauna. Going back home with a bike was a freezing struggle, so I spent the rest of the day reading under a blanket.
